I guess I am officially over the hill – 52 years old as of last Wednesday. I celebrated by falling asleep in my armchair watching Sons of Anarchy.
We are not big on birthday celebrations – Liz treated me last week to the Buena Vista Social Club concert at the Mesa Performing Arts Center. She bought me a lawnmower for my birthday; that’s okay, I told her I was going to buy her a vacuum cleaner for hers…
My mom sent me a gift certificate for Jerry’s Artarama. I purchased frames for my 8″x10″ paintings – getting ready to exhibit locally.
Tonight is Friday night. Liz and I are attending an advance sneak peek opening of the Ted DeGrazia exhibit at the Superstition Mountain Museum. Tonight’s opening is by invitation only; tomorrow they have an opening that is open to the public, and will be the only free entry for the duration of the exhibition. Not that their entry fee is exorbitant – it is only $5 ($4 for seniors) The works have not been publicly displayed for many years.
After the opening tonight, we plan to hit Jake’s O Mine to celebrate my birthday – cheap beer and good music! The band tonight is The Visitors, hailing from Phoenix.
